On the Verge of Soul Transcendence

by John Morton, DSS

This article comes from a sharing session John gave for the
“Verge of Christ” class held in Los Angeles in August 2025.

The Christ action does not stop, saying, “This is as much as I can do, and there is no more.”  It’s more we are just getting started, but it needs your involvement beyond your inertia.  It needs you enduring to the end.

We can do that on faith.  Faith becomes like going to the other side of the moon where it appears to be dark.  We can know we are going through this.  The darkness is just a temporary state. But for the mind and the rest that is caught up in illusion, it is an opportunity to walk in faith.  It is an opportunity to be in the vehicle doing the endurance part of what’s called for.

We are on the verge of what we call Soul Transcendence.  It is love of God and to know that directly, such that you don’t ever forget it.  It then becomes something pervasive.  John-Roger talked about it when he said, “I can’t forget about the Traveler consciousness because whatever I do, it’s always in front of me.  I am here and I can’t say the Traveler consciousness is not.”

The Traveler consciousness has ways of showing us it is here.  That could be showing us things like mercy, forgiveness and joy that surpass understanding.  We could pass out because it is so awesome that part of us that is limited, like a mind, can’t even take it.  It cannot keep up with the awesomeness of what is.

Having that knowing, and understanding the body condition you are in, your compassion for what you are going through can be the ticket into “It’s all done, It’s complete.”  How would you do your “swan song?”  Make the swan song now.  There may be another swan song. You may say, “What’s that?  I thought it would be over, like I’m done after this song.”  No, the music keeps playing.  Can you keep playing?  Maybe you weren’t planning for that.  That is about enduring.

There are things in our life in this world that are disappointing, discouraging, and painful in whatever capacity we experience the negative power.  How about you’ve got one foot in it?  That would describe how the Traveler does it physically.  One foot in the negative power, the other foot in Spirit.

Keep your balance.  You better know which one you are going to give over to.  If you are out of balance, grab hold of the Spirit.  But we can’t grab hold of the Spirit.  So, what do you do?  We do something like a leap.

Use your lungs to leap. If it’s your last breath, use that to make the effort to do what love would do.  It can be that right now you don’t know what that is like or what to do.  That’s a fairly popular state in this world.  “I don’t know what to do.  It’s confusing and I don’t like it.”  Now what?

Do the best you can.  What would that be?  It’s on you in the moment, as if we are on the verge of the heart of God.  That is one way I would put it to any initiate.  We are on the verge of the heart of God.  It is available to us now.  What would you do?  You do your part.

Would you love yourself?  Would you forgive yourself?  If you are doing that for yourself, would you do it for another?  It is understanding that when I have done it to any part of creation, I have done it to who I am.

Where are you right now?  Are you the least or the most consequential part of the creation?  In a way it doesn’t matter. It is like flipping a coin.  The coin is going to say, “You are God right now” or “You are the least one of them now.”  Which one are you?  All of it.  What would you do?  What would love do?  If you don’t know, just do the best you can.

Is this loving?  What I am doing, what I’m thinking, is it loving?  If you go, “I can do better than this,” then what would that be?  Now you are entertaining allowing how God would move you.  Keep that up. At some point, there is no effort in it.  You don’t have to think about it.  It is resounding joy.  Everywhere I turn, I experience pure joy.

It doesn’t require a witness or somebody who is going to ask, “What is that?  I want to define that for the dictionary.”  It does not require that.  It requires you be who you are right now.
If we understood it, it is not long.  It’s not in something called “God time.”  We are on the verge of now.  At some point, we are not on the verge because we are in it.  Do you understand?  We are in it.

Blessing of Welcoming our Life
From John’s book Blessings Here and Now

Lord God, we welcome our life.
We embrace it --- long lost friends perhaps ---
and get more attuned, more familiar
with what is awkward, strange, or lacking in our life.

We’re in cooperation.
We’re in our abundance.
We’re in our flow of creating greater value, greater beauty.

We see that we have great gifts to imagine.
We see a world that is flourishing and harmonizing,
a world where people take care of one another.
Share the wealth.
Share what we have.

And we’re also waking up to the blessing of Your patience
that You have placed so well inside of us.
So that when we come upon Your will being done,
that every need is taken care of.

And we are those who are making it right,
putting it right,
putting it back into place
so that we restore this world to its paradisiacal glory.
