IT'S SIMPLE
By John Morton, DSS
The following article is taken from a seminar John Morton delivered in Madrid, Spain in September 2025.
Here is what I get about why there is inhumanity, violence and all the rest in this world.
We forget. If we remembered who we are, we wouldn’t hurt anyone. It’s that simple.
Something would not allow us to hurt who we are.
We focus on spiritual awareness, and there is a line in this movement. There has always been somebody in the body on the planet doing the movement of spiritual inner awareness. It is not about an organization and it’s not about a personage. Jesus said, “Greater is he within you, than he that is in the world.” (KJV 1 John: 4:4) That is how I look at how we do this – from within. Do we need an organization? My point of view? No. Could an organization help us? Could somebody help you?
Consider if you had somebody who could show you what you are looking for. Not something fake or fraudulent, but someone who could show you what you’re looking for and seeking. In your life, you are looking for this. Then consider there could be a guide, someone who says, “Come on, I’ll show you.”
That’s how I relate to it. It’s far more than information. If you are seeking information, good luck. I don’t know that it can come from information. We need to have the experience. The experience is the way to conscious knowing. We can know it without even having to have the experience.
I find that the experience is eliminating what I don’t need to be aware of. It’s like removing what is foggy or unclear, sometimes considered an obstruction, restriction or transgression. “I moved off my path. I somehow got distracted and lost my way.” All of this is something that can lead to who we are, often by the choice to let it go.
It may be, “This is unnecessary experience. It’s not working.” We each come with a sense of, “I didn’t mean to lose my way or try to lose my way.” Maybe we did some anticipation, which became expectation. We didn’t follow by watching. We put in something imported from expectations or opinions. This is quite common.
In the world, there is a practical way. If you are thirsty, what does that tell you? “I want some water.” Does everybody know thirst? We have that in common. When we’re thirsty, and then have dehydration in the extreme, that can be a form of losing our way.
One of the things we teach is practical spirituality. John-Roger put it like this, “Take care of yourself.” Everybody. We all have the responsibility to take care of ourselves. Have enough water and oxygen so the physical can be a springboard or launchpad. We want to progress, to go forward in who we are. If we’re dysfunctional at the physical level, it makes it more difficult to be in harmony with the spirit.
We do this from the inside out. Remember that it is inside of you – within. Seek it there. Also, we do it simultaneously from the top down. The top goes to the highest consciousness.
In this world, we can have powerful reflections of God consciousness. I invite you to check that within you. What is coming into your conscious awareness? Is it in the consciousness of who you are within? I locate that in your heart. The wisdom foundation is in the heart. We can still have a beautiful mind. Whatever gets in your mind, check if it’s in your heart. If your mind goes away from your heart, stop. It can be just like that.
One of the practices we do is spiritual exercise. I look at it as how we worship. We worship within. But if that ever becomes, “I’m divine but you’re not,” you are off.
If we knew anyone to the level of who they are, we would know it in God’s love. I hope that sounds personal in the way a father, mother, daughter or son would be personal. Who is in the position of authority? The one in the higher consciousness. If you are going to seek the authority in your life, go all the way. Go to the highest God. That is who we pray to.
How do you know you prayed to the highest God? If it is in your heart, you are heard all the way to the highest God. How do you know that? Because God is in your heart. When you look in your heart, God is there.
Here is what I get about why there is inhumanity, violence and all the rest in this world. We forget. If we remembered who we are, we wouldn’t hurt anyone. It’s that simple. Something would not allow us to hurt who we are.
Regardless of where or how you are physically, you can do spiritual exercise. A key to that is your intention to invoke the highest consciousness, called the highest good. We also call that the highest God. The intention is to be willing to come into that awareness and let go of what would restrict or block your spiritual awareness. This is where patience comes in.
John-Roger was teaching us about “Let go and let God.” He talked about letting go as relaxing physically and in the mind. At the unconscious level, if I’m not conscious of it, how do I relax it? Stay open. Here is the teaching that would encourage you – you’re not given anything you can’t handle. If you are open, whatever happens comes in a way you can handle.
Consider what’s being addressed is your soul. We eventually drop the body and the other bodies that relate to the psychic-material nature. We let them go. That can be something like, “Who am I? If I try to see my hand, it’s back there with my body and I don’t see my hand.” This is part of letting go. It is relaxing into what is no longer a necessary condition. Then, the soul comes into its liberation.
We all have this heritage. Every one of us. Not one soul is lost. This is saying all souls come into their fulfillment. It is not about joining an organization or following a person. If I were to send you somewhere to follow, I’d say, “It is within you.”
The divine nature is within you. There is a consciousness there. One way I call out to it is, “Beloved.” The Beloved I’m talking about is sacred. It is a presence in all creation. It is always present, letting us know, “I am always with you in every breath.”

A Blessing of Peace on Earth
Let's take a moment like this when we're listening,
when we're open together
to consider that this silence we've been calling forward
is all around the planet.
It's beyond the planet, too.
In this moment, the awareness of the silence all around the planet
is the movement of spiritual inner awareness.
Then consider what image would appear to you in this silence.
What I'm experiencing is peace on earth.
Good will toward all.
The best is yet to come.
Celebrate!
